We choose to watch this over another movie that was PG-13, and we definitely made the right choice. From the posters, trailers, and other pre-release media, it was expected to be a semi-chick-flick. We took this movie on for the sheer fact of the R rating even though is is a Buena-Vista {read the "adult" Disney} release. There wasn't any full nude scenes, no foul language, and not even an obligatory blood & gore scene. BUT IT IS STILL A DAMN FUN TIME!
As this is the story of the legend Casanova, this is sex, sex, & more sex. But it is all implied by reference & good cinematography & editing. This is not a chick-flick, but a damn well done film from the writing of the story & screenplay, down to almost every aspect of the finished product.
And it is funny, enjoyable, interesting, and as much as I hate the term, it is "riveting". I hate that term because it is used way too often in promotional materials. But I ran out of soda due to a popcorn induced drymouth, and I did not want to leave and possibly miss another good moment, hense - riveting.
The most impressive thing of Casanova is the writing of the story & how the various interweaving storylines revolved around each other and did not interfere & cause confusion. Had the people responsible for this movie did anything different, things would have become muddled & many in the audience would be whispering between themselves trying to find out what is going on. Instead everything is laid out in a very precise intricate way that the viewer is not distracted from what is on the screen, and thus fully enjoy the full story and comedy that ensues.
I could go on, but in summary this says it best:
"This is a romantic comedy that made me cry.
I was crying because I was laughing so damn hard."
Jon B.

Try not to miss this one.
Blessed Be, Dr. Strangelove
