After going through the boot process, and after linking my camera to 'Duffy', I was presented with many colourful stripes, lines, & odd little cubes. At 1st I thought maybe I bumped my bag & screwed up a connection in the screen of my laptop.
Ohh, I was so wrong:
- Connect to TV - fun little squiggly lines.
- Connect to external monitor - same crap as what is on the laptop screen
- Thump it like I am playing bongos for Miami Sound Machine - I might get the screen clear enough to shut down without pulling the power & battery
- In the BIOS screen it will freak
Within 3.5 hours of buying it, I had to reload the piece of shit twice.
And WHO THE FUCK WOULD SET ASIDE KEYS BY THE ARROW KEYS DEDICATED TO PRODUCING THE CHARACTERS € AND $???????
I do not give a rat fuck about using the 'euro symbol', and the fucking dollar sign is 'shift+4'!

Another thing is even though I have my external mouse plugged in, if I just slightly brush against the POS touchpad, I end up opening a ton a crap while I am typing, which begets more windows, which begets even more windows, etc, etc, and so on.
But, even Microsoft admits Vista sucks ass, & we will all have to "upgrade" again in 6 years.
Sounds to me like another Win ME/screw the pooch/take it in the ass situation for the minions of gates.
But, I really cannot return this bastard child of acer. I don't want to have to deal with porting shit over for a while.
That is, unless I find the dumb-fuck that designed this laptop.

Anyone that has no problems with Vista AT ALL, they are liars, these are people that look at an OS, not use it. Letting your PC-Laptop idle while you F5 your myspace page till it farts is not 'usage'. Vaseline smeared beveling is not progress.

Vista only works if its freshly installed and never used, even then it works the living shite out of your hard drive for 30 mins after start-up until it settles down. What the heck is it doing, the fekin OS is just idling and I can hear me HDD going like an ADHD kid on speed!
Once you start using Vista regularly then the problems start arising.
Things go missing, programs freeze, restarts are required every 15 mins, and then Windows accuse you of not running a 'genuine' copy of Vista and lock you out of the computer, so you have to reboot from the original and GENUINE disc! Morons!

Just googled "fucking hate vista" and turned up here. Fucking windows update suggested I upgrade my video driver to their "certified" new version. I did and the fucking screen blacked out and never came back, not even after I waited a long time before rebooting to make sure the driver finished installed. I boot and then nothing but the annoying "tadaa" stupid ass welcome to the next roadblock screen sound. I'm writing this for "safe mode with networking" - anyone who profited from Vista or insists that windows 7 is anything but a bug fix for our beloved "mojave" that they want us to shell out another hundred bucks for should rot in hell.

You know, I really feel bad for you guys. I went directly from Win2k to Linux Mint Helena and it went without a hitch. A little bit of research and configuration later, and I was playing Wrath of the Lich King, and at better framerates.
That was back in 2008. It's gotten better and better since. I'm now running Lubuntu 10.10 "Maverick Meerkat" and having more fun with my computer than ever. Aside from Linux Mint and Kubuntu, I can also suggest openSUSE and PCLinuxOS to new users, based on my own experiences.

Protecting the data and the computer in the tretcherous world around a computer is the job of an operating system ,and despite Apple understanding this and generally getting it right Microsoft is corrupt and, much like the relationship between the automobile and petroleum industries in the 20th century and beyond Microsoft has a similar relationship with PC manufacturers to sell units in an environment which is not conducive to repetitive purchases. This is achieved through degradative performance justified with "viruses" and "spryware".
